History

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Gallantry Decoration is conferred upon members of the Force who demonstrate bravery and exceed the standards expected of them, specifically in circumstances of extreme danger. The Decoration is awarded when the individual is deserving of distinction from other members, but their actions do not warrant a Royal Bahamas Defence Force Cross.

The circular medal features an obverse depicting a pilot’s wheel atop the bow of a ship, with a fowl anchor superimposed. The reverse features the inscription “GALLANTRY RBDF”. The name, rank, and initials of the recipient are engraved on the medal. It is suspended from a green, black, and gold ribbon with two clasps; one inscribed with “THE BAHAMAS”, and one bearing the name of the campaign.
