The Veterans' Badge of Honour for Regiment No. 19 Dragoons was instituted by Grand Duke Friedrich August to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Battle of Mars-La-Tour.

It was conferred upon the regiment's surviving members who had participated in the battle on August 16, 1870.
