The Royal National Lifeboat Institution Decoration (Type 1) was instituted in 1901. The Decoration was originally issued to reward honourary secretaries and ladies auxiliaries for long and devoted service. 54 Decorations were awarded until 1909 when a second type Royal National Lifeboat Institution Decoration was established.
