History

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution Decoration (Type 2) was established in 1913 and superseded the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Decoration (Type 1). The new Decoration was awarded to men and women in Gold and Silver but was discontinued in 1914 following objections from King George V. Until 1914, only 10 Gold Crosses were awarded.
