Hi Kaotik,

That's an interesting star! I am more of a medal guy, but I can tell right off the bat that whom ever designed the star possibly was inspired by Swedish orders. The centre is possible Moroccan…. That's a tough one!

Hi Kaotik
This medal it's not Moroccan, not Swedish, not Jewish, etc…
This is an ETHIOPIAN medal. Possibly a "Commander's Breast Star" of the "Order of King Solomon’s Seal", from Empire of Ethiopia (to 1936), or by the government in exile (1941-75).
But…. and here comes the interest of this medal!! The enamels on the "star" (green, white & red), and the shape of the white cross in the middle of the medal, (typical italian cross), suggests me that this medal you have it's from the "Italian Rule (1936-41) of Ethiopia".
A VERY RARE TO FIND EXAMPLE OF THIS DECORATION!!!!!! The first I've ever seen with this enamels.
Have a look on "Google" images.

Good morning Flashman!

A-ha! Thank you so much for this information. I have never seen another example like mine, so I am very excited to get some answers. I certainly see the relationship between the enamelled star and the Solomon's Seal star.

I suppose it also follows the Italian trend of Grand Officer's Breast Stars having superimposed central medallions for many of their orders (Crown of Italy, Colonial Star etc.) I am very pleased to have a route to investigate further.

Do you know of other decorations from the Italian Rule period?

The rarity is exciting, but also makes it very difficult to value.
