History

This medal was conferred upon Officers of the South African Republic and Orange Free State Military Forces for distinguished and meritorious service during the Anglo-Boer War.

Neither side of this medal is considered the reverse. Both sides feature the same inscription, which translates to "Decoration for Devoted Service".
