History

This medal is conferred upon senior managers of the Intelligence Services in recognition of exceptional leadership resulting in improved division performance and national recognition of his/her efforts.

The National Intelligence Agency, the South African Secret Service and the South African National Academy of Intelligence are collectively referred to as the "Intelligence Services".
