History

This medal was conferred upon members of the Transkei Police in recognition of 18 years of service.

In 1985, the Transkei Police Medal for Faithful Service (1976-1985) was renamed the Transkei Police Faithful Service Medal (1985-1994). This award was discontinued in 1994 when the Transkei Police ceased to exist due to its assimilation into the South African National Defence Force.

There may be a silver version of this medal.
