History

This medal was conferred upon members of the Venda Defence Force in recognition of exceptional meritorious service and devotion to duty.

The Venda Defence Force was established in 1982 and was assimilated into the South African National Defence Force in 1994; therefore, Venda Defence Force decorations and medals became discontinued in 1994.
