The Cisplatina Cross (Cruz de Distinção para as Forças da Cisplatina) was established by Emperor Dom João VI in 1823, to recognize Brazilian and Portuguese military personnel who participated in the Cisplatina Campaign in 1811, and participated later in the campaign of 1816-1820, when Uruguay was annexed to the Empire of Brazil.
The Cross was authorized with four grades according to the rank of the recipient. I Class Gold Cross was awarded to General, II Class Gold Cross was conferred to Officer, I Class Silver Cross was conferred to enlisted men, while II Class Silver Cross was for civilians.
There are two version of this Medal that differ in their inscription.
