History

The Naval Distinguish Service Medal was authorized by the Brazilian government in 1943, to reward Brazilian navy personnel in recognition of both service duty and outstanding service in support of the war effort during the Second World War.

This Medal was authorized with two grades, Silver Medal and Bronze Medal. It is not clear if the grade of the medal denotes the rank of the recipient.
