Physical Description

The Grand Cross Star for Military Political-Strategic consists of an enameled Greek cross on an 8-pointed faceted star in silver gilt. the emblems of the branches of the armed forces are displayed on the quadrants of the cross. The arms are enameled with the color of each branch of the army.

History

The Decoration of the President of the Republic is awarded to Chilean and foreign military personnel for outstanding services rendered to the security and defense of Chile and have demonstrated acts of discipline, intelligence, solidarity, commitment and honor while doing so.

It was authorized with five grades that are awarded by ranks. The awards are enameled with the color of the branch where the recipient belongs to; red enamel is for the Army, deep blue is for the Navy, and light blue for the Air Force. The award features two crossed swords in the quadrants for the General in Chief of the Chilean Armed Forces.

The Grand Cross Star for Military Political-Strategic is conferred upon Generals and Admirals who, as Chiefs of each branch of the Armed Forces, has participated in campaigns where they command armed strategy leadership in wartime.
