History

The Cross for Huamachuco (Cruz por la Batalla de Huamachuco) was authorized in 1883 to recognize the Chilean and allied military personnel who took part of the Battle of Huamachuco during the Pacific War between 1879 and 1883.

The Cross was established with three classes that denoted the rank of the recipient. Individuals who were ranked as Junior Officers were eligible to receive the II Class.
