    The Medal for the Defenders of the Law (Medal for the Defenders of the Laws) was authorized by the Chilean government in 1851 to reward military personnel belonging to the National Guard of Santiago in recognition of their efforts to contain a liberal uprising in 1851.

    The Medal was authorized in Gold and Silver. The Gold Medal was awarded to Officer, while the Silver Medal was granted to enlisted men.
