The Andes Campaign Medal (Medalla por la Campaña de los Andes) was authorized by the Congress of Argentina, in recognition of General Conrado E. Villegas and his troops, who taking part of the expedition that covered the entire territory of the Chilean border.
The composition of the Medal denotes the rank of the recipient. The Gold Medal was awarded to Generals, the Silver Medal to Officers, and the Copper Medal was for enlisted men.
The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Andes Campaign 1882-1883," and a reverse inscription that translates to “2nd Army Division.”
