History
The Cayastá Medal (Medalla de Cayastá) was established by General Manuel Rosas on April 2, 1840. It was awarded to himself, and the Officers, and men under his command, who defeated a brief unitarian rampage in Santa fe Province.
It is not clear if the composition of the Medal denotes the rank to the recipient.
The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "¡Death for the Unitarians! The Province of Buenos Aires to Patriotism and Courage,” and a reverse inscription that can be translated to “¡Long Live to the Federation! The Recognized Government of Buenos Aires to the Martial Virtue.”
