History
The Medal for the Defense of the National Constitution (Medalla por la Defensa de la Constitución Nacional) was established by the Argentine government at May 20, 1998 in recognition of the members of the Army, security forces and police, who were killed or wounded while putting down internal outbreak in the last decades of 20th century.
The outbreak were lead by a group of military mutineers known as Carapintadas (Painted Faces) in the following dates: during Holy Week in 1987; at Monte Caseros in 1988; at La Tablada in 1989, and again on 1990.
There were authorised two medals; “for who died”, and “for wounded.”
