History

The Medal for Outstanding Service (Medalla al Servicio Sobresaliente), also known as the Medal for the Youth (Medalla para la Juventud), was authorized by the Bolivian government of Manuel Melgarejo in 1865 to reward his youthful supporters.

It is not clear if the composition of the Medal denotes the rank of the recipient.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translate to "The Government of Bolivia in 1865 Melgarejo Muñoz Freedom," and a reverse inscription that can be translate to "Rewarding to the Outstanding Youth from the Fatherland."
