History

The Order of Merit of Intelligence (Ordem do Mérito da Inteligência) is currently awarded to recognize Brazilian and foreign, civil and military personnel, who have provided exceptional services to the Brazilian Intelligence and Security Agency through the exercise of specialized actions for obtaining and analyzing data in Intelligence and Counterintelligence branches, producing knowledge and protecting the country.

The Order's grades are Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight. There is not clear if the grade denotes the rank of the recipient.
