History

The Order of Aeronautical Merit (Orden al Mérito Aeronáutico) is awarded to military and civil personnel, and institutions, either national or foreign, in recognition of the meritorious actions rendered in favor of the prestige of the Paraguayan Aeronautical forces.

The Order's grades are I Class, II Class, and III Class. The grades denotes the rank of the recipient.

The official name of this cross is "Teniente Silvio Pettirossi" in honor of Lieutenant Silvio Pettirossi (1887-1917), who was an aviation pioneer famous for his aerobatic prowess.
