History

The Order of Merit 5th of November 1811, Heroes of the Independent Fatherland (Orden al Mérito 5 de Noviembre 1811, Próceres de la Patria) was established by decree on December 3, 2011, in commemoration of the 2nd centennial of the first attempt at Independence in El Salvador on November 5, 1811.

The Order is awarded to nationals and foreign citizens in recognition of humanitarian, scientific, intellectual, spiritual, civic, and moral actions that foster the prestige to the country.
