History

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Distinguished Service Decoration is awarded by the Governor General to recognize Defence Force personnel who distinguish themselves through significant service to The Bahamas and contributions to the success of any major operation or project.

The obverse of the Decoration features an encircled anchor bearing the words “ROYAL BAHAMAS DEFENCE FORCE”, while the reverse is inscribed with “FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE RBDF”, surmounted on a shield bearing the representation of the Santa Maria. The name, rank, and initials of the recipient are engraved on the medal. The ribbon features red, white, and aquamarine stripes. Two clasps adorn the ribbon, one inscribed with “THE BAHAMAS”, and one bearing the name of the campaign.
