History

The Order of Barbados was established in July 25, 1980 by Letters Patent, as part of the country’s National Honours and Decorations System.

The Silver Crown of Merit of this Order is conferred in recognition of exceptional achievement or meritorious service in the fields of civic services, sport, the arts, science, and literature.

It is also awarded for any service or activity that is deserving of national recognition.
