The Alberta Centennial Medal was established on March 24, 2005 to commemorate Alberta’s first 100 years of being a Canadian province. It is awarded to current and past citizens of Alberta for making important contributions to their fellow citizens, community and province. Approximately 8000 have been awarded.
The medal features Alberta’s Coat of Arms with the inscription ALBERTA CENTENNIAL 1905-2005 on the obverse, and HONOURING OUTSTANDING ALBERTANS on the reverse. It is composed of bronze gilt. It is worn on a ribbon of blue, gold, green, white and pink.
