History
The Canadian Centennial Medal was created in 1967 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the country. It was awarded to approximately 29,500 Canadian citizens who provided valuable service, 8,500 of whom where personnel in the Canadian Forces.
The medal was designed by Bruce Beatty. The obverse features a maple leaf surrounded by the words CONFEDERATION CANADA CONFÉDÉRATION. The reverse features Canada’s Coat of Arms above the dates 1867 1967. The ribbon is red with five vertical white stripes along the center.
