History
The Ontario Medal for Police Bravery was established in 1976 and presented on behalf of the Ontario Government to recognize courageous and brave actions performed in the line of duty by members of the Provincial Police Force. The medal is intended to both acknowledge the force's efforts and encourage individuals to pursue excellence in their service.
Recipients are eligible to receive the Medal if they are members of the Ontario police forces and are endorsed by their superiors. The medal may be conferred posthumously.
The obverse features a trillium, the arms are plain, and a single maple leaf is in each corner of the cross. The reverse is numbered.
Each recipient receives a provincial scroll and a miniature of the medal. Recipients are also eligible to receive a Canadian Bravery Decoration.
There is no limit to the number of medals that can be issued per year.
