This Order is conferred upon Cuban citizens, foreigners, and Heads of State in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).

The Type II is a silver gilt medal, showing on the obverse in the center an engraved armed soldier walking over the map of northern Caribbean, surrounded by a surmounted enameled Cuban flag on the top, with flanked silver laurel branches, as well as extending gear teeth on the bottom.

The reverse displaying a superposed silver medallion bearing the Cuban coat of arms surrounded by the inscription "REPUBLICA DE CUBA CONSEJO DE ESTADO", translates to "Cuban Republic Council of State".

There is limited information regarding Type I.
