The Cross for Angostura (Cruz por Angostura) was instituted in 1847 to reward the Mexican Officer who led the army against an American invading force at the Battle of Buena Vista (Angostura) on February 22, 1847. This Medal was part of the Mexican decorations awarded by the government for the Mexican-America War (1846-1849.)
