History

The Cross for Chapultepec (Cruz de Chapultepec) was authorized in Mexico in recognition of the Officers who participated at the battle of Chapultepec Castle, where an invading American army was advanced through Mexico City in 1847.

The Cross might be awarded posthumously.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "He Defended the Independence," and a reverse inscription that translates to "September 8, 12, 13, 1847."
