I Class Cross was awarded to Officers who led the attack to the National Palace on the 15th of July in an attempt to retake it from rebel control. II Class Cross was awarded to Officers who fought against the rebels from July 15th to 27th, 1840. while III Class Cross was awarded to enlisted men who fought against the rebels from July 15th to 27th, 1840.

Each Class had its own ribbon design. I Class Cross has a blue, white, blue ribbon, while II Class Cross has a white, blue, and white ribbon, and II Class Cross had a blue ribbon.

The III Class Cross features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "To Loyalty and Valor," and the reverse inscription that translates to "National Congress."
