History
The Distinguished Action Medal (Medalla por Acción Distinguida) was instituted in Mexico by Ordinance of the Army and Navy on June 15, 1897. It was created to reward Generals, Officers, and enlisted men, for distinguished actions in campaign or in the battle field.
The Medal consisted of three grades: I Class Medal was conferred upon Generals, II Class Medal was awarded to Officers, and III Class Medal was for enlisted men.
The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Reward to Distinguished Action 1 [2, 3] Class."
Some resources indicate that the classes may vary in composition; this information is not confirmed.
