History

The Faithful Service Medal (Medalla Premio a la Fidelidad) was instituted by the Viceroy of the New Spain (Mexico) in 1811, in recognition of royalist military personnel and native Indians who fought against revolutionary troops the same year.

The composition of the Medal denotes the rank of the recipient. The Gold Medal was conferred upon Generals and Chiefs, the Silver Medal was awarded to Officers, while the Bronze Medal was conferred upon troops and Indians.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Ferdinand VII King of Spain and the Indias," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Award for Fidelity."
