History

The Medal for Queretaro (Medalla de Queretaro) was instituted by the Viceroy of the New Spain (Mexico) in 1812, in recognition of the royalist military personnel who fought against a group of revolutionaries who were planning to replace the government of the Spanish Viceroy in 1810.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "For the Defense of Queretaro on October 10, 1810," and depicts a plain reverse.
