History
The Star of the Mexican Military Legion of Honor (Legión Militar Mexicana de Honor) was instituted by the Mexican government in 1836, to reward Senior Officers, Officers, and enlisted men who fought against Texan separatist forces the same year.
The composition of the Star denotes the rank of the recipient. The Gold Star was awarded to Senior Officers, and Officers, while the Gilt Star was awarded to enlisted men.
The Star was abolished in July 5, 1839.
The Star has a motto that can be translated to "To Courage," and a reverse inscription that translates to "The Fatherland."
In 1951, the Cross of the Mexican Military Legion of Honor was approved with completely different features.
