The War Cross (Cruz de Guerra) was instituted in Mexico by presidential decree on July 25, 1949. It was awarded to military personnel in time of war or armed conflict for meritorious actions with risk of life.
The Cross was authorized with three grades. I Class Cross, II Class Cross, and III Class Cross. It is not clear if the grades denotes the rank of the recipient.
The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "War Cross First [Second, Third] Class," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Created by Decree on 25 July, 1949."
