The Commander’s Award for Public Service was created by the United States Secretary of the Army on June 14, 1983. In 2014, the Commander’s Award for Public Service was renamed the “Public Service Commendation Medal.” The Bronze Medal is awarded to Federal government employees, policy officials, technical personnel, and other non-Army civilians in recognition of significant service and achievements which aid in the advancement of Army goals and missions.
There are 2 versions of the Medal which vary by the reverse inscription according to the name change.
