The CJCS Joint Distinguished Civilian Service Award was established by the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Civilian Awards Program on January 5, 2000. The Gold Medal is awarded to Federal Government civilian employees of the Joint Staff, combatant commands, joint organizations reporting to the Chairman, or other Federal Government employees in recognition of distinguished and significant service which surpasses the service of other employees in comparable positions.
