The NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal was established on July 29, 1959. The Bronze Medal is awarded to non-government personnel in recognition of significant contributions to the goals of NASA and other Federal government agencies. Qualifying service may include services in improving administrative procedures, scientific progress, work methods, manufacturing techniques, personnel procedures and other efforts. It is estimated that 250 Medals have been awarded.
