History

Instituted by Sultan Muda Haji 'Omar 'Ali Saif ud-din III. This Order is awarded in 2 classes: Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama (post nominal letters DK) and Darjah Kerabat Sri Utama (post nominal letters DKII). This order is conferred upon members of the Royal Family, foreign princes and high officers of the State. The First Class was limited to six and consisted of a collar, star, sash and badge.

The collar is composed of Gold and Enamel, and consists of 18 links with designs of lions, crossed krises, the Crown of Brunei and a torch.
