It is possible that this medal was conferred in recognition of the integration of Jawhar State into India.

The obverse Devanagari inscription roughly translates to "Maharaja Yashwant Rao, Upholder of Duty to Cows". The reverse Devanagari inscription translates to "King's Medal" and "Shri Jawhar Shak 605 [1948 A.D.]".
