This medal was established by King Sisivan Vong. It was conferred upon military personnel in recognition of gallant service during conflict.

There are French and Laotian manufactured versions of this medal.

The reverse features French and Lao script. The Lao script reads as "Lian Itsariyaphon MAkhom".
