This medal is also known as the Coronation Medal or "Pingat Pertabalan" and was instituted by the Sultan Badlishah on the occasion of his installation as Sultan in 1943.
This medal is composed of silver. It is round with a straight bar suspension which incorporates the Kedah Crest. On the obverse is the head of the Sultan with the inscription "Sultan Badlishah" in Jawi above and "Kedah Darul Aman" in Jawi and Romanised Malay below. The reverse is inscribed "The Accession of his Highness the Reigning Sultan 1362-1943" with a wreath around and the Crest above.
It is worn on a yellow ribbon with narrow red and green edges.
