History

This is the highest military award in Myanmar. It is comparable to the British Victoria Cross and the German Knight Cross of the Iron Cross.

It is onferred upon any rank of the Myanmar Armed Forces in recognition of valour and gallantry during battle.

There have been approximately 6 of these awards issued to date.

It is also known as the "Sun of Aung Sun".
