History

This medal is conferred by the President at the National Day Parade or by special ceremony, upon senior military Officers of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces. It is awarded for loyalty and exceptional moral and military conduct.

To be considered for this award, individuals must have served at least 25 years in the Armed Forces.
