History

This Order was originally founded in 1925 by King Zog of Albania.

In 1945 the Communist regime altered the award designs, and amended the Order to recognize long civil and military service within the organization, reinforcement, and modernization of the Armed Forces.

It was primarily awarded to Officers in the People's Army or the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was also awarded to civilians to recognize labour efforts that had contributed to the advancement of the Armed Forces.

After 1980 the Order was no longer awarded in recognition of long service.

See Order of Skanderbeg, in the Orders of Albanian Principality, Republic, and Kingdom (1914-1944) for more information.

The II Class badge was awarded for 20 years of service.
