History

This Title was conferred in recognition of extraordinary civil service to the State and people of Albania. It was also awarded for heroic acts in war.

The Title was the highest award conferrable upon an Albanian citizen, and it could be conferred posthumously.

This Title may also be called the Hero of Albania and Hero of the People.
