    This Title was instituted by the State Council and it was conferred upon Bulgarian citizens for participating in space flights and mission.

    It was only awarded to two recipients, Georgi Ivanov in 1979, and Aleksandar Panayotov Aleksandrov in 1988.

    Recipients of this Title were given the label “Pilot-Cosmonaut of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria.”

    The obverse inscription translates to "Pilot-Astronau ...  t of the People's Republic of Bulgaria."

    This Title was officially discontinued in 1991.
