This medal was personally conferred by Prince (Knyaz) Alexander I of Bulgaria to members of the government, as well as court officials and delegation members
The medal was first awarded in January 1880, and it became obsolete following Prince Alexander I's abdication in 1886.
Each medal was awarded with an associated miniature that was meant to be worn by the recipients during everyday activities.
The obverse inscription translates to “Alexander I Prince of Bulgaria.” The reverse inscription translates to “In remembrance of the year 1879, April 17-June 24.”
The medals were manufactured in Austria, Vienna.
