History
Under the reign of Ferdinand I this medal was instituted by the Ministry of Finance to celebrate the completion of the Yambol-Bourgas Railway.
This medal was the only labour award officially conferred within Bulgarian, and it was issued three times.
The first two times the medals were issued they were produced in non-wearable forms and feature locomotive on the reverse medallion.
The medals issued for the third time were produced in a wearable form and feature a winged wheel on the reverse medallion.
The design of the medals was created by Yosef Kristelbauer, and they were produced in Austria.
The obverse inscription translates to "Ferdinand 1st Prince of Bulgaria".
The reverse inscription translates to "Yambol Bourgas 14 May 1890".
The Bronze Medal (Non-Wearable) version was conferred upon government Officials.
The Bronze Medal (Wearable) version was conferred upon low ranking members of the military and Soldiers involved in building the railway.

The non-wearable versions of this medal were awarded on the same occasion. The only difference is that the reverse features a locomotive.
