History

This medal was established by Prince Ferdinand I in commemoration of his marriage to Princess Eléonore on April 8, 1893.

The medal was conferred upon guests of the wedding ceremony, as well as Bulgarian civil servants and Officiers.

Each grade has a version with, and a version without, a surmounting Imperial crown with flying pendilia.

The design of the medal was created by A. Scharff, and his name is stamped on the obverse medallion.

The obverse inscription translates to “Ferdinand I Prince of Bulgaria Maria Louisa Bourbon Princess of Parma.”

The reverse inscription translates to “Loyalty and Courage 8th of April, 30th of April.”
